From the Library Journal: Sudjic believes that lighting is the most important as well as most neglected as pect of interior decoratingthat light ing is an art having a fundamental influ ence on all design schemes. He offers possibilities for using this design ele ment creatively in each room of the house. Color photographs illustrate varied lighting options in contemporary living spaces. Sudjic details the techni cal and aesthetic aspects of sophisticat ed lighting. His discussions on lighting psychology, varieties of bulbs, selec tion of hardware, and practicalities of wiring show how to use light to create moods or alter spaces. Supplementing the text is a glossary and an internation al list of useful addresses. Greif presents a comprehensive buy er's guide to many kinds of indoor and outdoor lighting devices. Antique, re production, and contemporary lighting fixtures are illustrated in black-and- white photographs. Greif recommends devices to enhance the authenticity of period decorating while providing for modern lighting. Although this book is meant as a catalog of fixtures and sup pliers, a history of lighting is furnished. Imaginative suggestions are offered as considerations are made for space and manner in which lighting will be used. While Greif's work is a catalog of light ing devices for various periods of de cor, Sudjic presents a more general decorating guide for modern decors. Both would be good additions to deco rating collections.
